There are a few recipes that every family has that is necessary to make. Stuffed Peppers is one of ours.

This is one of my fathers all-time favorite meals, one that (thankfully) my mother would make special just for him whenever she needed to sweeten him up. We were all glad that we didn’t have to eat them when we were younger, although, my younger sister and brother developed a taste for them as they got older. This recipe comes from our grandmother.

To Make:

Take the six large green peppers and cut them in half, and hollow out the inside discarding the stem and seeds.

Chop up one green pepper into 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup of white onion. Add it to a large skillet at medium heat with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and saute for 5 minutes until soft.

Add one pound of ground beef (or ground turkey) to the skillet and cook until it is lightly brown and remove it from the heat.

Stir in 1 1/2 cup of rice (your choice), 1/4 cup of grated cheddar cheese and 4 teaspoons of Worchestershire sause and salt into the skillet.

Spoon it carefully into the hollowed out peppers and place the peppers into a casserole dish.

Combine the 1-2 cans of tomato sause, 1/2 cup of water and 2 teaspoons of Worchestershire sause and pour over and around the peppers.

Bake at 350F degrees for 30-40 minutes.
